Just How Big is WordPress
Just how big is WordPress? Chances are even if you don’t currently use WordPress or even have a website or blog, you’ve heard about this giant of the online publishing world. Launched back in May of 2003, WordPress has gone from strength to strength and now dominates the world in the sheer number of people using this amazing web development platform.

So exactly how much influence has WordPress had on the online publishing World:

Approximately 27% of the 1.1 billion websites across the globe are built using either the WordPress.com hosted or WordPress.org self-hosted solutions. Considering how many other website publishing platforms were launched around the same time (e.g. Joomla, Drupal, Squarespace), the dominance and the ever increasing popularity of WordPress is even more impressive.

Even so of the World’s most renowned publications such as The New York Times, People, National Geographic, and Forbes all run their online versions using WordPress. If it is good enough for them it’s good enough for us.

Approximately 60 million new posts are published everyday on WordPress sites all over the World. There is also and additional 500 new WordPress website created daily. When you do the maths that’s equivalent to 20 new site created every hour of every day or one new site every 3 minutes. That is serious momentum.

SBIM have been using WordPress exclusively to build not only our sites but our clients site now since 2008 and we’ve grown very fond of our digital publishing friend. Like any relationship we have our ups and downs and our frustrations, however WordPress remains the leader of the pack for many reasons which we will explore in later posts.

But for now, if you haven’t already given WordPress a test run, give it a go here and see what the fuss is all about.
